II. FINAL DESIGN
Rationale: The design is initially arranged using golden ratio which evolves into an asymmetrical balance composition, where the dominant human figures below are balanced by the light texts above, this creates a dynamic looking poster.
The choices I made in the design mainly revolves around capturing the intimacy of the two main characters, which I find it lacking in the original design. The sunset tones evokes a romantic feeling, showcasing a golden moment that enhances the emotional connection between the two. To achieve harmony, I further express this emotion using dreamy elements in unity, such as summer fireworks, light leaks, and bokeh effects. This reflects the mood of sunset for an intimate relationship very well. The teal skies along with the shirt for the man works cohesively with the environment because it is a complementary color to the orange hues throughout the design, which makes the skin tone pops out, creating contrast.
In order to achieve a good visual hierarchy, emphasis is first given to the title by using the glow effects to enhance readability, then to the brightened eyes of the figures that leave trails of wind to suggest eye contact between them. This will help the viewers to understand the meaning of the poster easier, as it is about their relationship.
To support the design, I used heart-shaped symbols to convey the romantic message effectively, without the need of using long-winded texts. I used the symbols in repetition, also with variation in sizes to make it more engaging, starting from the female lead and moving toward the male lead. This introduces movement, leading the viewer eyes from one character to the other. Movement is also implied in the wind trails for the character eyes to make them more alive.
Lastly, to enhance the word and image principles, I used a script, handwritten font and illustrated it with subtle heart shapes in between the strokes to match the overall mood of the composition. Additionally, I hinted movement again by using envelope distort effects, so the title won't look that static and boring. Noise filters and adjustment layers are stylistic choices used to make the design look more professional, and more suitable for a promotional poster.

IV. FINAL REFLECTION
➼ What have I learnt in this module?
I've learnt that there are so many aspects to consider in order to create an appealing artwork. The design principles that we are learning right now was researched very thoroughly back then to support us in creating fascinating designs in the future. We must appreciate it because this a big advantage for us on having the additional knowledge in this era.
➼ What did I enjoy the most?
I enjoyed making the artwork systematically from scratch, exploring on how to apply the design principles for the composition one by one, its like filling the missing pieces of a puzzle that eventually turns out into something better than expected.
➼ What did I not enjoy the most?
I didn't enjoy illustrating that much because it's not my area of expertise. As a result, I couldn't express myself fully in the design because of my subpar skills and the limited techniques I used. If I would be better at illustration, I guess it could turn out into a more professional artwork, which could be suitable for commercial purposes.
➼ What have I learnt about myself through this module?
I discovered that I kept using the same artstyle in doing my design projects, also in other modules. I'll try to explore new artstyles later on by searching for references that differ than what I usually prefer.
➼ What has changed and what has not in my learning journey?
After being in this module for almost 7 weeks, I began to realize that I couldn't simply make a good artwork by relying on my abilities alone. Miss Jinchi's constructive feedback throughout the semester, my friends' and public opinions all matter a lot. This is because besides for self expression, we also create designs for other people to appreciate.
What has not changed is my interest towards design. I initially believe that because of the challenges in learning creative skills and doing these assignments will take a heavy toll on me, it will cause my passion to gradually fade away. However, I don't feel that way even the slightest bit. I don't regret choosing this major at all and I still feel this is the best choice for me, compared to pursuing other majors.
➼ What are my aspirations?
I definitely want my future career to be a designer, because I like doing practical things rather than theoretical stuff. Doing design enables us to think about various of possibilities, brainstorming endless concepts and even invent new things that are beneficial for the people, it's far more engaging. Although those by-the-book careers could make a lot of money, I feel like their life will be very repetitive and boring.
Each time I finished doing my designs, I feel very content and amazed by my results. Sometimes, I even stared on my designs and my older artworks for quite a long time, observing the improvements from time to time. I want my work to be something like this, it's passion-driven and it's something that I look up to every morning when I wake up. My life will be much more meaningful this way, and hopefully I could live it to the fullest.
Finally, all the work for the Design Principles module this semester is done. With my deepest gratitude, I would like to specifically thank Miss Jinchi as our module lecturer for assisting and guiding us throughout the semester. I hope that what I've learned until now will be beneficial for me in the future, and help me in improving myself to achieve greater heights.
