Finally, after almost a year with Mr. Vinod, we have completed typography for once and for all (I hope I pass tho). It was a fulfilling journey and I could say this module had given me a lot of memorable learnings that introduces me to the world of design. I am fortunate to have Mr. Vinod as one of my lecturers for my first year in doing design because he really influenced me on how I think and view towards solving design problems. Not sugarcoating, but it's true—Mr. Vinod played an impactful role towards my growth, and I will always remember his advice if I someday ended up in a career in design in the future.
Final words, HUGE thanks to Mr. Vinod for your dedication in teaching us all along, and I hope you can influence more students to help them achieve their fullest potential! because we sure need more lecturers like you!
➼ Observations
Out of all of the modules I've taken, typography is by far the most strict. Requirements are a lot compared to others and even the blog has certain things that we should do that is not needed in other modules. But doing all of this teaches us to be organized in doing our work. There was a time where I lost my files for my typography assignments, but because we are always required to put all of it in our Google Drive, I was able to retrieve it and submit in time. Imagine if I don't have all of that, everything might be delayed and in the worse case, my tasks from other modules could also be affected. So, being someone that is organized will certainly be beneficial for us someday, because people always makes mistakes, and I'm no exception. We need to try our best to keep ourselves on track.
Typography is everywhere around us, hence by us learning typography, we can be more sensitive towards the designs happening around us. Throughout my journey in learning typography especially when doing collaterals in almost all of our tasks, I find that it is extremely related to the field of graphic design. Every advertisement materials out there, packaging designs, and everything—relies on typography to communicate its intended message effectively. Typography here significantly impacts how the audience perceive visual communication objects.
I must be intentional in every decisions I make when doing design work from now on—by studying in more depth, I discovered that even small decisions made by designers could matter, and collectively, it could significantly affect the overall feel of the product that is created.
This marks the conclusion of an fulfilling experience! Looking forward to what lies ahead next semester!
